5 Secrets of Content Marketing Blogging

Ok. We'll admit it. Five tips is more closer to the truth than secrets. But we caught your attention didn't we?

As you might already know, one of the many cornerstones in an ambitious and well-drawn content marketing strategy is blogging. Updating your blog on a regular basis is a perfect window of online exposure for your brand or business. There are some nifty tricks than can be pulled out of the magic hat to "pimp" your blog, five actually. (Well there are more, but we really like lists of five.) Enjoy!

QUALITY OVER QUANTITY
You should always set goals for your blog. And understand that you can revise them over time. Because blogging takes time. Even with a staff, updating your blog every day requires a lot of work. So, maybe you should go with one crispy post per week, instead of 5 not so crispy ones. For blogging we strongly believe in quality over quantity. When talking about social media channels such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, we would say go the other direction. Aim at quality, but focus on quantity. Why? Well, holla at us, and we'll tell you.

WRITE FOR PEOPLE, BUT WITH SEO IN MIND
When writing your posts, write them for people. Real people. Don't write for the algorithms of Google. This doesn't mean that you shouldn't pay attention to SEO, but don't let SEO dictate the words. IMAGES ARE AWESOME
Words are great and when paired with some nice images they become even better. Use our favourite site: Unsplash to find some real gems that are free – yes free for real. Crispy images can lighten up a text-heavy post in more ways than you can imagine. Speaking of text, keep your small posts between 500-800 words and the bigger ones between 1,200-1,500 words.

SPREAD YOUR GOSPEL
People won't just find your blog by accident. You have to lead them there. This means using all the disposable weapons in your marketing arsenal. Email lists, different social media channels, hot air balloons and so on. And don't forget to apply some relevant hashtags for a wider spread and possible engagement from a your new audience.

ROME WASN'T BUILT IN ONE DAY
It's easy going blind while staring at numbers and becoming a tad bummed over the fact that your blog didn't become the overnight sensation you hoped for. Hey, ambition is good, but time is the key here. It takes time to build a strong fanbase. There is no shortcut for greatness. Be patient and don't give up. In fact – never give up!
